Natalya Vitrenko and Vladimir Putin very early in their relationship, circa 1936. Natalya is a nutjob Ukrainian politician whose Web site is attempting to use the photos on Shorpy.com to "prove" that mass starvation during the 1930s Great Depression killed 7 million Americans. (Which is, in the best tradition of Big Lie politics, utterly untrue.) View full size. Eternal apologies to Dorothea Lange.
I like that great tragedy of America it is possible to do in the show of fools.

Bravo Dave!
Nice to see the old witch from Konotop-town in such view! It's a pity ahat they have used your web-site photographs to prove their crazy ideas. But here in Ukraine we have not too much idiots to support this pro-Kremlin gang - for the last several years these fricks failed to come to the Ukrainian parliament (Verkhovna Rada), inspite of all the oil-money paid by Russian FSB.
With respect and the best wishes,

Touche Dave. It is worth noting that many of the photos found here on Shorpy were taken by photographers paid (by the government) to document the effects of the Depression and Dust Bowl so that Americans would mobilize and do something about it. Conversely - if wingnuts like Natalya Vitrenko had uttered (almost wrote "uddered") a word of dissent in 1935, Stalin would have killed her outright - or at lest sent her to the Gulags.
