Most of the photos on this site were extracted from reference images (high-resolution tiffs, 20 to 200 megabytes in size) from the Library of Congress research archive. (To query the database click here.) Many were digitized by LOC contractors using a Sinar studio back. They are adjusted by your webmaster for contrast and color in Photoshop before being downsized and turned into the jpegs you see here.

"Belzoni, Miss., in the Delta area. Oct. 1939. Negro man entering movie theater by 'Colored' entrance." Photo and caption by Marion Post Wolcott for the Farm Security Administration. View full size.
I'm really surprised I've never seen this before. The picture is so compelling both on the surface, and its depth.
There are now links below the image for purchasing prints.
The complete name of the movie on the poster (partially hidden by shadow) is "Feud Of The Range"
I really love this photograph and would love to purchase a print.
Do you know how I can get one?
