In this image, my grandfather John "Jack" Baker can be seen treating a captured German soldier. It is believed that this image was taken in Southern France – possibly near Baie de Cavalaire. Although the exact date isn’t known, it is likely that the event took place from August 15, 1944 to September 10, 1944. This image was taken by Dale Rooks, and may have been featured in a news magazine at the time. The date estimate is based on the official history of the USCG USS Duane, which Baker and Rooks were both assigned to. | Click image for Comments. | Home
