Baby Boy, Baltimore: 1947

My mother worked for Zepp photo labs through WWII. She had several box cameras, took and developed lots of pictures. I was the new kid on the block. Note the elaborate setting, concrete yard underneath. I believe I was dropped on my head a lot as an infant. (OK, so do you see anyone nearby to keep me from rolling off? I didn't think so!) This was our back yard, 719 N. Luzerne Avenue between E. Monument and E. Madison. I was born in April...so can't be too long after that when the shot was taken. (Er, sorry, I just don't even remember it, but I was there.) View full size.

Looks familiar

I'm almost 50 and have that same hairstyle. A little on the sides and very little on the top.

Baby and the Bath Water

That is an "olde timey" baby bath! There was usually a "lid" that went over the top so it could double as a changing table.

You must not have been dropped too much; you're still here!

You won't fall!

Such a kissable face! I think you are in a laundry basket. My Grandma had one like it to haul wet clothes from her washer to the clothes line. My brother and I took turns pushing each other around the yard until we got caught.

Balto and Zepp

My big brudda was also born in Baltimore in 1947. Are all of you '47 babies smarty-pants like he is?

And I've got lots of prints with Zepp's blue stamp on the back. They were in business until recent years. Your mom likely processed a few of them.
