Most of the photos on this site were extracted from reference images (high-resolution tiffs, 20 to 200 megabytes in size) from the Library of Congress research archive. (To query the database click here.) Many were digitized by LOC contractors using a Sinar studio back. They are adjusted by your webmaster for contrast and color in Photoshop before being downsized and turned into the jpegs you see here.

This is such an extraordinary photograph; I've always wanted to restore it. The man was a giant, yet his face reveals nothing but kindness and humility. Repair and colorization to the original done in Photoshop using multiple layers and blend modes. View full size.
You've captured something special with your work. Don't often see that when people colorize. V cool. Congrats.
Beautiful job in colorizing and restoring this photo! It is so vibrant and lifelike!

How do I arrange a purchase?
I have this photograph framed and hanging in our den. I would love to get the full size image of this colorized version. Is it available?
