Most of the photos on this site were extracted from reference images (high-resolution tiffs, 20 to 200 megabytes in size) from the Library of Congress research archive. They are adjusted by your webmaster for contrast and color in Photoshop before being downsized and turned into the jpegs you see here.

From the field of view, depth of field, distance to subject, and f/numbers back then it must be a good size.
An army lives and wins on its stomach. As a Chief Quartermaster he, like UPS, was all logistics, and quite successful at it, too.
I wonder if he and Laura Ingalls, author of the Little House books, are related. Anyone have access to a good genealogy search?
