Most of the photos on this site were extracted from reference images (high-resolution tiffs, 20 to 200 megabytes in size) from the Library of Congress research archive. (To query the database click here.) Many were digitized by LOC contractors using a Sinar studio back. They are adjusted by your webmaster for contrast and color in Photoshop before being downsized and turned into the jpegs you see here.

We bought a photo studio in the '70s from an 'old' local photographer... the back room was filled with backdrops like this one depicting all seasons and all locations!
This looks like the same gal you've dubbed "Lady Libertine." But you'd think old Fitz would realize you can't swim in heels!
this IS what you get when you cross a burqa with a bikini!
While it cracks me up, it also makes me a little envious...the last swimsuit I bought had a bikini top with about a teaspoon of fabric.
Shouldn't there be something between a burkha and a bikini?
