Available as a Juniper Gallery Fine-Art Print, "Fate of the Rebel Flag" is the second of a pair of patriotic lithographs with a militantly Unionist theme based on paintings by William Bauly and issued by New York art publisher William Schaus in September 1861 at the start of the Civil War. In a spectacular nocturnal scene, a large warship sinks and burns, the flames taking on the configuration of the first flag of the Confederacy, the blue field with seven stars being formed by the night sky.
