Most of the photos on this site were extracted from reference images (high-resolution tiffs, 20 to 200 megabytes in size) from the Library of Congress research archive. (To query the database click here.) Many were digitized by LOC contractors using a Sinar studio back. They are adjusted by your webmaster for contrast and color in Photoshop before being downsized and turned into the jpegs you see here.

Well designed for her intended purpose. easy to understand why she had such a long life. Handsome.
Built in Toledo in 1891. Her length was 212', beam 31.6', draft 12.7', weight 1,003 tons. She was scrapped at Hamilton, Ontario in 1948. One source says he could carry 2,000 people.
