Not only two-tone

"Mom wasn't short, and Dad was a Cuban with a Latin male's pride. . . . [And] he did occasionally wear what they used to call elevator shoes."

Desi Arnaz Jr., quoted in Celebrity Diss and Tell By Boze Hadleigh

A number of good interior views by clicking the thumbnails on the link Peter provided. The house was mid-century beautiful.

Faux pas indeed

Applying today's fashion criticism to a 59-year-old costume is presumptuous, and you're welcome.

Fashion faux pas

Uh, Desi, socks with shorts are a no-no. You're welcome.

The house is still around today, although it was extensively renovated about a decade ago. I've only found one picture of the current exterior:

Gorgeous!

LOVE that house! It's probably gone now or renovated beyond recognition.

Humble abode

No Hollywood star today would live in such a humble dwelling.

Geezer fashion

So now we know whom to blame for the practice of wearing shorts with dark socks and two-tone shoes. And I hope that Phillip Morris didn't notice that Desi's missing a pack of the sponsor's finest in that rolled-up sleeve.
