Ludicrous, maybe

But useful. Years ago, my Weimaraner developed a fungal condition on his paws from walks through wet grass, and his vet recommended dog galoshes. They gave him the gait of a Tennessee Walker and amused the neighborhood children no end, but enabled him to recover rather quickly. Similar paw-gear is widely used for search and rescue dogs and other canine working stiffs; a sore paw can severely limit any dog's mobility and unprotected, they rarely get better.
