About the Photos

Our holdings include hundreds of glass and film negatives/transparencies that we've scanned ourselves; in addition, many other photos on this site were extracted from reference images (high-resolution tiffs) in the Library of Congress research archive. (To query the database click here.) They are adjusted, restored and reworked by your webmaster in accordance with his aesthetic sensibilities before being downsized and turned into the jpegs you see here. All of these images (including "derivative works") are protected by copyright laws of the United States and other jurisdictions and may not be sold, reproduced or otherwise used for commercial purposes without permission.

Colorized from this Shorpy original. My hope was to create something that looks as if it had been color originally. View full size.

Thanks! And yours was a great colorization effort. I'm surprised you remembered me. (I was having some trouble logging in, so I created a new account hopefully without issues)-'LK'

Fooled Me back

Two and a half years ago I fooled you with my colorized version of Times Square: 1943.
Well.... you have don a superb job on this one!!! Fooled me right back. Way to go LK!!

Thank you Don. Over time I will attempt other ones and share them too!

Original Color

Very nice work and I think you have succeeded in your hope. I truly admire the colorizing that you have done on this one. The skin toning is excellent, along with everything else of course. Well done!
