My grandmother and step-grandfather are seated at the head of the table in their house in northeast Minneapolis. Gathered round are my dad, mother, brother, cousin, and aunts. My uncle is not in the picture because he is behind the camera. I am as yet a gleam in my father's eye. My brother always said he didn't think Grandpa cared much for him.
