Most of the photos on this site were extracted from reference images (high-resolution tiffs, 20 to 200 megabytes in size) from the Library of Congress research archive. (To query the database click here.) Many were digitized by LOC contractors using a Sinar studio back. They are adjusted by your webmaster for contrast and color in Photoshop before being downsized and turned into the jpegs you see here.

Circa 1938 National Park Service silkscreen poster for Lassen Volcanic National Park. View full size. Available as a Juniper Gallery fine-art print.
I'm moving a few miles from Lassen in January, and it's great to see some of these old WPA works still in circulation - I hadn't seen them before stumbling across postcard versions in Washington.
Great stuff!
I love these old posters
A couple of years ago I had a bad fright at Lassen. On a blind corner an RV almost knocked us a 1000 feet into Kingdom Come. Scary road.
