About the Photos

Most of the photos on this site were extracted from reference images (high-resolution tiffs, 20 to 200 megabytes in size) from the Library of Congress research archive. (To query the database click here.) Many were digitized by LOC contractors using a Sinar studio back. They are adjusted by your webmaster for contrast and color in Photoshop before being downsized and turned into the jpegs you see here.

Girl Talk: 1926

Girl Talk: 1926

Washington, D.C. "NO CAPTION (Girl with doll, 1926 or 1927)." Probably warning her about that McCarthy boy. Harris & Ewing glass negative. View full size.

Those Gotta Be....

the biggest buckles I've ever seen on a pair of shoes....

Perhaps the right one looks like Brooke Shields.
I think the young girl looks a bit like Liv Tyler.

If I had to wager, then I'd bet that girl (the REAL girl) is a gorgeous redhead.

Maybe it's that cleft in her chin

She reminds me of a young (was she ever not young?) Brooke Shields.
