Giessen, Germany c.1952

I don't know the location. Perhaps Shorpy readers can pinpoint it. My dad was in the US Army, stationed in Germany in the early 1950s. He bought a great Agfa Karat 35mm camera and left me some beautiful slides. Another of his photos is on Shorpy here. View full size.
UPDATE: Thank you PLA and bobstothfang, for the location!

I was there . . .

in Giessen from May 1965 until August 1967. I imagine there had been changes in some of the storefronts, but that good old "Truck, 3/4 Ton, M37B1" at the right side of the frame had been around a long time and is unmistakable. Sturdy machine.

Giessen

Plockstraße and Seltersweg, Gießen

Poßibly Gießen

According to Google Maps there are three cities in Germany that have a Plockstraße street. Gießen, Düsseldorf and Aalen. My best guess is the corner of Plockstraße and Seltersweg in Gießen.
