This brings back memories

A '63 VW microbus was our family car, back in the day. It was green & white, but had the same accoutrements as this beauty: the sunroof, the little windows around the top, the rails in the back to protect the windows from whatever was stowed back there. It's what I learned to drive in, on the mean streets of Sacramento, circa 1969.

Beautiful!

23 window, deluxe bus; worth quite a penny nowadays. The middle seats alone are highly sought out, as many were removed and lost. Note the "jail bars" in the luggage area to prevent things banging the glass, and the running board to assist getting in the back. There were 21 window & 23 window buses; the extra ones were the two in the back corners.
