On April 23, 1896, a gentleman named Thomas Edison showed the first ever motion picture on this site! I read the plaque!

Judging by the window displays and clothing worn by the pedestrians it appears to be Spring time. One fast walking gentlemen in shirt sleeves is impervious to the chill in the air.
