I don't know what year my grandfather took this photo of the Pennsylvania Capitol Building, but I'm guessing it was 1948 or 1949. View full size.
The State Street Bridge. The huge concrete eagles atop the pylons flanking the bridge represent the US Army and the US Navy. I live about three blocks from the capitol. The view driving across the bridge today is very similar except for the streetlights. Here’s a view of the bridge from the capitol portico.
Could be 1947 or 1949, both years had yellow plates. the 1948 plate was blue.
