The rest of "downtown" Honey Grove, Pennsylvania, as seen from the vantage point of the gas pump at the front of my grandfather's store. Early 1950s. View full size.
A beautiful picture, and I'll bet it was quiet. But, I also think about cold weather, 6-volt electrical systems, carburetors, and manual chokes. I'm wondering if the truck and two cars pictured are "good starters", or "hard starters"? If you had a car that was a good starter, you wanted to hang onto it; if you had a hard starter, you wished it was a good starter.
None of the photos of Honey Grove show evidence of TV antennae. Wonder when TV arrived? Did they have radio reception in their remote location?
