This picture was taken on Crete in the summer of 1902. It shows my maternal grandparents, Christiern and Dagny Broberg, socializing with the resident Russian consul (left). My grandparents were married in Rome two years earlier and moved to Crete where Prince George of Greece secured a job (Harbor Commander) for my grandfather. My two oldest uncles Torben and Christian, were born there.

The Russian revolution forced them to return to Denmark where they had three more children: Flavie, George, and my mother, Yvonne. All five siblings married abroad.
