While the lady of the house was well-dressed in most of the photos, she was also a housewife. Here she is doing the laundry with a smile. It's easy to forget that this was the way it was done back then. The watch must have been important to her, because she is wearing it in most of the pictures, even here, with soap suds halfway up her arms.
