About the Photos

Our holdings include hundreds of glass and film negatives/transparencies that we've scanned ourselves; in addition, many other photos on this site were extracted from reference images (high-resolution tiffs) in the Library of Congress research archive. (To query the database click here.) They are adjusted, restored and reworked by your webmaster in accordance with his aesthetic sensibilities before being downsized and turned into the jpegs you see here. All of these images (including "derivative works") are protected by copyright laws of the United States and other jurisdictions and may not be sold, reproduced or otherwise used for commercial purposes without permission.

What a back, indeed!

and this is at age 41, if all the dates are correct.

What a back

Such spectacular tension and muscular definition. Puts one in mind of certain drawings of Michelangelo.

But where are the fireworks, the outré costumes, the bikini-clad corner workers, the folding chairs for throwing or using as a cudgel?

Obviously, these folks need a marketing and branding consultant!

It looks like the standing wrestler is getting ready to body slam his opponent onto what appears to be a wood floor with no padding. That would really smart.

The muscles on Bothner's back are amazing. Just wow.
