Newlyweds: c.1951

My (future) mother and father stand in front of their first home, a “garden apartment” in New Brunswick, New Jersey during the first year after they were wed. What I like about this picture is how very I Love Lucy their clothing is, and how much like a model (that she was way too short to ever be) my mother stands. Having her two parents in the garment trade, she saw the whole universe through a filter of fashion. That she got my father to dress so spiffy mystifies me. He was never again the fashionable sort that this photograph makes him seem to be. Scan was made from a print. View full size.
