I haven’t a clue what the story of this playful mother and baby snapshot is about. I only know that my mother is pulling a wicker basket, I am sitting in it, and somebody took a picture of that. I also know the front door to this Levittown, Pennsylvania house is beyond her shoulder, and beyond that is a bamboo curtain hiding the washer and dryer. As far as I can remember we never owned such a wicker basket. She had a wheeled wagon for laundry and a stand up hamper for dirty clothes. I also know that my mother was not playful. She just wasn’t. My theory is, that since all Levittown houses looked exactly alike, we are in some neighbor’s kitchen and the young mothers who had gathered with their baby boom babies, to socialize, came up with this activity and basket.
