Cleveland circa 1900. "Arcade Building, south face, Euclid Avenue." Public Square in the distance. 8x10 glass negative, Detroit Photographic Co. View full size.
Below is the same view from August of 2016. (Unfortunately, news media were staging their equipment on the street across from the Arcade when the photo was taken.)
As retired Police Captain, I find that very ornate "Cleveland Special Police" badge very interesting. There has to be a story. And the number on top?
[The number is 89. The sign is equipped with two light bulbs -- one white and the other colored; a smaller sign below reads DON'T HITCH HERE, the horse-and-buggy equivalent of "No Parking." - Dave]
What's that all over the bricks?
