Montague Roberts

Montague Roberts

Montague H. Roberts, original driver from Times Square, of Thomas Flyer in the New York-Paris Race of 1908 (he steered the car to Cheyenne, WY-had to leave for prior race commitment) seen here in later years. Here he is 2nd from left. He was instrumental in the invention of the "Franklin Booster" , shown here, a device that assisted locomotives in climing steep grades. He was the grandfather of my wife, Cindi.
