Most of the photos on this site were extracted from reference images (high-resolution tiffs, 20 to 200 megabytes in size) from the Library of Congress research archive. They are adjusted by your webmaster for contrast and color in Photoshop before being downsized and turned into the jpegs you see here.

I think the shoes are interesting.. Weren't the shoes on the left the type that needed a tool to buckle up? Whereas the ones on the right were laces.. no extra tool. The times were changing.
Back then kids in the city shot craps at night...Now they shoot each other.
