Most of the photos on this site were extracted from reference images (high-resolution tiffs, 20 to 200 megabytes in size) from the Library of Congress research archive. (To query the database click here.) Many were digitized by LOC contractors using a Sinar studio back. They are adjusted by your webmaster for contrast and color in Photoshop before being downsized and turned into the jpegs you see here.

Judging by the age of the kids, I am guessing this is a jr. high band, mid 1950's. The fellow 3rd from the right front row I am certain is my father Gary. The only thing that baffles me is that my dad NEVER mentioned anything about playing any kind of musical instrument, nor did he ever play any musical instruments while I was growing up.
