Our holdings include hundreds of glass and film negatives/transparencies that we've scanned ourselves; in addition, many other photos on this site were extracted from reference images (high-resolution tiffs) in the Library of Congress research archive. They are adjusted, restored and reworked by your webmaster in accordance with his aesthetic sensibilities before being downsized and turned into the jpegs you see here. My mom's parents Anatole and Natalia Filipoff, Niteroi Brazil, sometime in the early 1960's. Originally from Russia around Rostov-on-Don, they emigrated to Brazil in 1949. When the kids all were old enough grandma kicked them out to emigrate to the US. My mother and her sister in the early 60's, her brother in the late 1970's. My grandfather passed away in Niteroi in 1994, after that my grandmother moved to the US. She became a citizen in 2005, died earlier this year in January.
