Copper mine, Rio Tinto, Nevada: 1941

My grandfather, James "Harry" Ramsey, loved working as a copper miner, in Rio Tinto, Nevada. The Rio Tinto mine flourished during World II, but declining copper prices after the war forced the mine to close in 1948. Rio Tinto is now a ghost town. This photo was taken by my grandmother in 1941. Grandpa is the third man from the left. View full size.
