Most of the photos on this site were extracted from reference images (high-resolution tiffs, 20 to 200 megabytes in size) from the Library of Congress research archive. (To query the database click here.) Many were digitized by LOC contractors using a Sinar studio back. They are adjusted by your webmaster for contrast and color in Photoshop before being downsized and turned into the jpegs you see here.

I guess being snowed-in here provided the inspiration to colorize this one. I'm longing for spring. The guy in the background appears to have been mistakenly included, so I took him out. Maybe this is how she looked in 1939. No color I tried out for that bird on her hat looked good, so I went with the least distracting choice.
Thanks for this. Perfect in every detail. Congratulations on a job very well done. It looks much better without the distracting man in the background. Great job!
