I would use the term

I would use the term "merrily" loosely. The kid in the racer seems a little concerned, and judging by the expression on the older boy in charge of pushing, he has good reason to be.

Soap Box Derby

Guess it started out as the "Shoe Polish Derby." And I love the simple steering mechanism.
