Reflecting on the 70s

My sister-in-law reflected in a mirror at an art & crafts fair in Santa Cruz, California in 1974. I shot this on 35mm Kodacolor. View full size.

tterrace never disappoints

After looking at this photo, I suddenly have a desire to buy some Birkenstocks. I loved that era even though I was never a hippie. But, my wife and I were young, loved the music, and had some great times. It was a prime of life that I won't forget.

Viva the Jefferson Airplane!

Where are they now?

Any recent 21st century photos of your lovely sister in law?

tterrace - do you have a pic of you and her now?

I was going to language school in Monterey in 1974.

It was a magical place and a magical time. Left in 1975, came back in 1995, been here ever since.

Chi town

You can go to Santa Cruz, Big Sur, Encinitas or any of the beach cities and see people dressed like that today. They're selling crystals, herbal cures and pyramids that emit "chi."

Ah, the '70s

I can almost hear Ravi Shankar's sitar and smell the patchouli.

Does she still have it?

Marlon Brando's Oscar, I mean.

Cultural Document

This shot says so much about the era, from still-current "late-60's" styles to the re-use of Victorian antiques by hippy-types. Very well composed picture, too.

A child of her time

I bet she loves you for showing us that one!

Me and her

Me and her, also 1974.

[I have all your albums! - Dave]

Excellent

Amazing photo.

WOW

Just lovely!

Long 'n' Silky

Although I was a dedicated user of "Long 'n' Silky" shampoo in the '70s, my hair never achieved the lustrous sheen and strength evident in your sis-in-law's braids. I'm jealous.
