(To query the database click here.) Many were digitized by LOC contractors using a Sinar studio back. They are adjusted by your webmaster for contrast and color in Photoshop before being downsized and turned into the jpegs you see here.

Ah, great photo. Makes me long to be beside the seaside! Think I will make this my desktop picture for the time being.
At Shorpy. The young lady furthest out in the water facing the camera. Prettiest smile I've seen from pics of the early 20th century.
What great detail in this photo. You can even see the bubbly holes the sand makes after the shore recedes.
We don't see much of those ships on the horizon nowadays, do we?
