The passenger liner Morro Castle caught fire September 8, 1934 and was abandoned at sea. Of 549 passengers and crew aboard, 135 were lost. Shortly afterward she drifted ashore at Asbury Park, New Jersey and burned for two days. My Aunt Vi probably took this photo. The wreck was a major attraction while it was there. View full size.
