Most of the photos on this site were extracted from reference images (high-resolution tiffs, 20 to 200 megabytes in size) from the Library of Congress research archive. (To query the database click here.) Many were digitized by LOC contractors using a Sinar studio back. They are adjusted by your webmaster for contrast and color in Photoshop before being downsized and turned into the jpegs you see here.

This was taken the night before Christmas in 1966, the year my parents moved to Hermitage, PA. I was a year and a half old then. Those old Fisher-Price phones are being brought back thanks to Toy Story 3. View full size.
Having lived in Hermitage, Pa., most of my life and having four children of which tree would be of the age that would fit right in with that time frame I liked this photo.
