Most of the photos on this site were extracted from reference images (high-resolution tiffs, 20 to 200 megabytes in size) from the Library of Congress research archive. (To query the database click here.) Many were digitized by LOC contractors using a Sinar studio back. They are adjusted by your webmaster for contrast and color in Photoshop before being downsized and turned into the jpegs you see here.

This is supposedly a Ju87D from a Nachtschlachtgruppe (Night ground attack group) in Luftflotte 4.
The picture must be from 1945, indicated by the yellow ring on the engine and the yellow rudder.
The plane your dad took a picture of appears to be a Ju-87D Stuka dive bomber. There's one of these very similar to this on display at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.
