George was an engineer and was eventually commissioned to design the alterations to the private apartments of the Royal Family at Buckingham Palace (this may have been after the bombing of the palace). As a result, he was not allowed to be assigned to duty outside of Britain, in case he was captured and was able to provide information about either the Palace or the Royal Family. View full size.
