The house in the background is my great grandparents, in snowy Michigan. The Model A and Mercury are both my Grandpa's cars. He graduated high school in 1954, which is when this photo was taken. He still owns the Model A, which is now restored. View full size.

Based on the comment above and an Internet search of green and yellow Michigan license plates, this is either the beginning or end of 1959.

Great shot. You got a pic of the restored Model A you could post in the comments? I guess we're out of luck with the Merc.

The shape and two-tone configuration of the station wagon in the distance cries out '57 Ford to me, with '56 a second choice, but that doesn't jibe with your date. Still, that was a distinctive Ford feature of those two years, and I haven't been able to come up with earlier examples.
