Aaron L. Gehman Farm: c. 1897

This is another photo taken on my great-grandfather Aaron L. Gehman's farm. This is taken on another part of the property in front of the barn. It appears this was taken the same day as the previous photo I posted, date possibly around 1897. To my eye, the horses and cows (and "ghost" chickens) seem to be on display with some pride. For what purpose were these photos intended? For the family to display in their home? Perhaps to send to far off relatives? We'll never know. Perhaps someday my own great-grandchildren will look at similar photos of me and ponder the past. View full size.
