About the Photos

Most of the photos on this site were extracted from reference images (high-resolution tiffs, 20 to 200 megabytes in size) from the Library of Congress research archive. (To query the database click here.) Many were digitized by LOC contractors using a Sinar studio back. They are adjusted by your webmaster for contrast and color in Photoshop before being downsized and turned into the jpegs you see here.

Grandparents

Grandparents

This is a picture of my grandparents taken outside of Aledo, TX. This was shortly after their engagement. This is one of my favorite pictures of them. view full size.

Excellent!

Thank you for sharing that so we can ALL see how cool they were!

How lovely!

I didn't even knew my grandparents, none of them. What a nice detail, sharing this picture with us. Thanks! It's an absolutely beautiful photo.

Grandfolks on cycles

So, your grandparents were Norma Shearer and Rod La Rocque, huh? Hadn't known about their acrobatic skills. Seriously, what a great shot. How many people can say they have pictures of their grandma and grandpa balanced on a motorcycle?
