Larkspur, California, Summer 1948. I just turned 2, and my sister arranged this scene on our lawn. Kodacolor negatives of this vintage had a regrettable tendency to deteriorate into an impenetrable density. So all we have left are the prints, which unfortunately all acquired an intense and irregular yellow cast. Luckily, that can be corrected to some extent, and perhaps there'll be some further Shorpy magic applied.
