This is my first attempt at colorizing. After admiring the work of Dennis Klassen, I had to try it. I was absolutely fascinated with the original, depicting a slice of life on the Mississippi,circa 1906. I did some research and found that the Belle of Calhoun sank and was raised three times during its life and that the Belle of the Bends sank and was raised twice. So many questions can be asked about the cargo, the destinations and the workers loading, off loading and idle. The detail of the original is absolutely stunning. View full size.
