This is one of about 100 slides that my Grandfather took in downtown Detroit during the riots in 1967. Police friends took him on a tour of the area in a police car. View full size.
How can we see all 100? Would love to see more!
The armored vehicle is a V-100 armored car built by Cadillac Gage (No relation to Cadillac Motor Car Div). In US Army service they were known as the XM-706. What caught my eye is the bumper numbers. Looks like it belonged to the Test & Evaluation Command (TEC) Armored Engineering Board (E BD). So I'd say this was actually a test vehicle not assigned to an Army unit. Likely built in or near Detroit.
