I love the smell of model aeroplane fuel in the morning. 1969, me holding my brother's latest creation, a model of a Japanese Kawasaki fighter, I believe, a fly-by-wire, silk and balsa wood model powered by a Enya motor. I often went to the city with my brother to Hobbyco to buy parts and wonder at the miniature marvels on display. This plane met its demise in a loop the loop that ended with the plane losing the undercarriage and suffering wing damage. My brother still has the motor, which powered a few more planes during his youth.
