Are You Sure That's A Pipe?

That looks more like an exploding cigar that exploded while he was asleep, but still failed to wake him up.

Can I just say...

Ewww on the closeup!

The Sleeping Soldier

Neatly stacked and secured in the rack next to the sitting (and blurred) soldier are Springfield 1903A1 rifles, I believe. Note also the soldier in the second bunk from the front: asleep with his shoes/boots on. Posed photo, perhaps?

Soldier A and Soldier B

the man in the front looks like he is having a great dream, but the man behind him has something coming out of his mouth. what is it?

[A pipe, among other things. See above. - Dave]
