On Shorpy:
Today’s Top 5

I've said it before

And I'll no doubt say it again:

Your captions are half the reason I check in to Shorpy on a regular basis.

Carry on.

Oh my

Its the Beagle boys!

Wide stripes

Could that be the jailbirds' day out?

Banded Bowery Boys

The second guy from the left could be the character "Satch" played by the comic actor Huntz Hall. This works right down to his hat.

1900's camp stove

I was intrigued by the camp stove and found this photo.

Early flag

The flag at the far right is The flag of the United Tribes of New Zealand, the country's first official flag. It was flown between 1834 and 1840, after which the Union Jack was used following the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi. The misty valley in the background looks very unlike Sumner - a beach suburb near Christchurch. Possibly the location is inland Canterbury, closer to the Southern Alps.
