Proviso Yard

The Proviso Freight Yard, located 12 miles (19 km) west of the city centre in suburban Cook County, was constructed between 1926 and 1929 and had 224 miles of trackage and a capacity of more than 20,000 cars. The 'Hump' was decommissioned in 2019.
