If Ruth Orkin notes that these women were drunk, they probably were. The woman on the left has a huge run in her stocking, a big no-no for women in those days. Still, they look oddly fashionable with their smart wool coats and the woman on the right's nice striped sweater and turban. Orkin took a lot of photos in Harlem and Upper Manhattan. Most likely, the brownstone where this photo was taken is now all fixed up and worth a few million.
